Shipbuilding, Machinery & Marine Technology (SMM) is the world’s leading international trade fair for the maritime industry. As a central industry meeting point, SMM brings together more than 2,000 exhibitors and around 40,000 to 50,000 trade visitors from all over the world to present and discuss innovations and solutions along the entire maritime value chain. SMM 2026 will focus on the energy transition and decarbonisation of shipping, the digital transformation of the maritime industry, sustainable technologies and measures to achieve international climate targets, as well as other future topics such as maritime security, port infrastructure, smart shipping and alternative propulsion systems. The trade fair is accompanied by an extensive conference and workshop programme with specialist presentations and symposia on current challenges and trends in the industry. SMM is primarily a trade fair for international trade visitors from industry, research, politics and maritime institutions.

The German Aerospace Centre (DLR) is represented at SMM and will be presenting selected research results and projects on maritime technology and systems research, such as sustainable propulsion systems, energy-efficient system concepts, digital solutions for maritime applications and interdisciplinary research approaches; visit our stand to talk directly to DLR experts and find out more about our contributions to the future of maritime technologies.
