The German national garden show 2023 (short BUGA for “Bundesgartenschau”) in Mannheim will take place over 178 days from 14 April to 8 October 2023. For this purpose two areas Luisenpark and Spinelli Park, will be developed on a total of 104 ha and connected with a cable car.
As a first use case for an automated ride operation, the use of the prototype U-Shift is planned at BUGA23 in the experimental field. Approximately 2 million visitors are expected, representing an operational scenario similar to a pedestrian zone due to the many contact points.
In order to demonstrate the U-Shift, to give potential visitors the opportunity to exchange ideas with the scientists and to inform themselves about the prototypes, a DLR pavilion will be the hub for DLR at the BUGA, to which the experimental field is connected.
