Its target asteroid Dimorphos poses no threat to the Earth, it was subject to a hypervelocity impact by DART in 2022. The main objectives of Hera are related to the retrieval of scientific information about the physical and dynamical properties after the impact so as to validate numerical impact codes. This will allow scientists and engineers to design and prepare for a real deflection mission should it be needed. As bonus, Hera will unveil unique information about the internal structure of Dimorphos providing missing clues about the formation processes of binary asteroids. The presentation will highlight the key aspects of the mission as well as provide information about its development status.
