The SAiL will take place in Bremerhaven from 13 to 17 August 2025. The international gathering of windjammers is one of the largest maritime events on the North Sea coast. Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier is the patron of the event and will open it on 13 August.
The German Aerospace Centre (DLR) will be presenting a research boat, a model of its research vessel currently under construction, a maritime positioning table and several underwater vehicles at the Science Mile in the fishing port. Visitors are also invited to take part in a variety of hands-on activities: remotely steering a boat while securing a wind farm, launching a hydrogen-powered rocket or scanning sea containers with cosmic rays – all this and more is possible.
As a highlight, visitors can experience a 15-minute virtual flight into space with the SPACEBUZZ ONE from the German Space Agency at DLR.
