SUMMARY:{:de}Kolloquium Flugführung 2017 – Unbemannte Luftfahrtsysteme in der Praxis{:}{:en}Flight Guidance Colloquium 2017 – Unmanned aviation systems in practice {:}
DESCRIPTION:In today’s digital society\, the use of unmanned aviation systems is becoming increasingly commonplace and the focus of significant interest. This year’s Flight Guidance Colloquium will explore the challenges faced by practical use\, in particular for smaller\, unmanned aviation systems (‘drones’) which the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) classifies as ‘open’ or ‘specific’. The talks will focus on possible risks presented by drones for other aircraft\, signal monitoring for the respective remote control systems\, and monitoring of drones in airspace. \nThe DLR Institute of Flight Guidance and TU Braunschweig warmly invite you to attend the event at Braunschweig Research Airport. \nProgramme 2017 – Unmanned aviation systems in practice \n21 February 2017\nDamaged Mechanisms caused by Foreign Object Damage (FOD) in Aircraft Engines\nMoritz Wirth (Rolls-Royce plc) \n28 February 2017\nHolographic Radar and the Safe Integration of Drones\nTim Quilter (Aveillant Ltd.) \n14 March 2017\nUnifly – Unmanned Traffic Management\nJürgen Verstaen (UniFly) \n11 April 2017\nSignal Monitoring for Remote-controlled Drones and Possible Countermeasures\nJürgen Modlich (Rohde & Schwarz GmbH & Co. All talks are free of charge and open to the public.

SUMMARY:{:de}Das 6. Stuttgarter EnergieSpeicherSymposium{:}{:en}The Sixth Symposium on Energy Storage{:}
DESCRIPTION:Storage for energy-intensive industrial processes \nIndustrial plants account for almost one third of end-use energy consumption. If they are to be optimally adapted to an energy system with a high proportion of regenerative – and therefore fluctuating – electricity\, energy-intensive industrial processes need to be planned differently. Harmonising the fluctuating provision of regenerative energy with consumption will be a major challenge for the industrial sector. Heat and energy storage systems help companies make their processes more flexible. But storage technologies will have to be adapted and optimised to suit industrial processes.\nWe warmly invite you to join us in the discussion of aspects of systems and technologies for energy-intensive industrial processes at the Sixth Symposium on Energy Storage on Wednesday\, 22 February from 09:30 to 16:30. \nTutorials on energy storage technologies will be offered for the first time from 17:00 on Tuesday\, 21 February 2017\, before moving on to a Meet & Greet at 19:00 in which we will present our recently opened laboratory for energy storage research in the new building at the DLR site in Stuttgart!
