SUMMARY:{:de}Fotoausstellung „Space Girls Space Women“{:}{:en}Photo Exhibition „Space Girls Space Women“{:}
DESCRIPTION:Picture: ESA \n  \nWomen who reach for the stars \nIs it a man’s world in space? No way! The ‘Space Girls Space Women’ photography exhibition\, to be showcased for the first time in Germany from 11 January to 14 October 2018 at Universum® Bremen\, presents 24 very special women from the space industry: girls who have their heads in the stars\, female students who are passionate about space and female experts who are at the heart of the space adventure. Inspired by the international touring exhibition\, Universum® is also showcasing seven portraits of Bremen women who are pursuing their dream career in the space sector. \n‘Space Girls Space Women’ is organised by the international photographic agency\, Sipa Press\, and made possible thanks to the commitment of the European Space Agency (ESA). The French Space Agency\, CNES\, the NEREUS network\, the French theme park\, Cité de l’espace\, and the European Union’s Agency for Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GSA) are also involved in this collaboration. \nDate: The ‘Space Girls Space Women’ photographic exhibition will be on display from 11 January to 14 October 2018 at Universum® Bremen (Wiener Straße 1a\, 28359 Bremen). Entry is included in the standard admission price. \n

SUMMARY:{:de}Kontakt mit einem Asteroiden - DLR-Ausstellung im Bremer Rathaus{:}{:en}Contact with an asteroid - DLR exhibiton at Bremen town hall{:}
DESCRIPTION:+++ PLEASE NOTE: OPENING HOURS ON 27 and 28 SEPTEMBER VARY FROM REGULAR SCHEDULE +++ 27 September: 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. +++ 28 September: 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. +++ \n  \nHayabusa-2 is a Japanese space mission heading to the high-carbon „Ryugu“ asteroid. Germany – in collaboration with France – contributes to this mission with the MASCOT lander and four important scientific experiments which examine chemistry and physics of this asteroid. The mission goal is to gain knowledge about the dawn of the solar system and the formation and development of the planets. MASCOT is to land on Ryugu in October 2018 and to support measurements taken by Hayabusa-2. In 2020\, Hayabusa-2 will return to Earth\, carrying samples from Ryugu. \nThe exhibition „Contact with an asteroid – HAYABUSA2 & MASCOT“ of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) was developed and designed by the DLR institutes and facilities involved in the asteroid lander MASCOT with participation of external mission partners. \nThe exhibition takes place at Untere Rathaushalle (ground level) of Bremen´s town hall. The admission is free of charge. \nStaff from DLR´s Institute of Space Systems in Bremen in charge of the mission will guide through the exhibition on following days: \nTue 10 July 2018 6:00 p.m. \nSat 14 July 2018 11:00 a.m. \nSat 28 July 2018 11:00 a.m. \nSat 11 August 2018 11:00 a.m. \nSat 25 August 2018 11:00 a.m. \nSat 08 September 2018 11:00 a.m. \nSat 22. SUMMARY:{:de}the 5th International Summer School on Aerogels{:}{:en}the 5th International Summer School on Aerogels{:}
DESCRIPTION:The department of Aerogels at the German Aerospace Center is organizing the 5th International Summer School on Aerogels in Cologne\, Germany\, on September 19-21\, 2018.\nAerogels are nano-structured open porous materials synthesized via a sol-gel process. They most often combine such extraordinary properties as high porosity (up to 99.9 %)\, ultralow density (50-200 kg/m3)\, high surface area (up to 2000 m2/g). They can be synthesized from inorganic or organic precursors. Students\, PhD-Students\, Postdocs\, experienced scientists from universities\, research organization and industry are invited to make a unique experience in the synthesis and characteri-zation of a fascinating nano-structured material. During this workshop participants will be introduced to the fascinating properties of Aerogels and perform many experiments learning how to synthesize and characterize inorganic\, organic and bio-polymeric aerogels.\nThe department of Aerogels at the German Aerospace Center is cooperatively organizing this with the technical University Hamburg-Harburg\, the University of Salzburg\, Austria and the EMPA in Dübendorf\, Switzerland.
