SUMMARY:{:de}SUMO 2019 - Simulation integrierter urbaner Mobilität{:}{:en}SUMO 2019 - Simulating Connected Urban Mobility{:}
DESCRIPTION:Traffic simulations are of immense importance for researchers as well as practitioners in the field of transportation. SUMO has been available since 2001 and provides a wide range of traffic planning and simulation applications. SUMO consists of a suite of tools covering road network imports and enrichment\, demand generation and assignment and a state-of-the-art microscopic traffic simulation capable to simulate private and public transport modes\, as well as person-based trip chains. Being open source\, SUMO is ready to implement new behavioral models or to control the simulation remotely using various programming environments. These and other features make SUMO one of the most often used open source traffic simulations with a large and international user community. \nCall for Papers\nThe conference aims on presenting new and unique results in the field of mobility simulation and modelling using openly available tools and data. We expect a large variety of research topics and usage approaches. If you are doing a research project fitting the topics below you are kindly invited to submit an abstract. Possible areas of interest include (but are not limited to): \n• Vehicular Communication\n• Modelling Urban Mobility\n• Intermodal Transport\n• Autonomous Driving\n• Logistics Simulation\n• Mobility Modelling\n• Traffic Simulation\n• Traffic Applications\n• Traffic Management Solutions\n• Open Tools and Open Data\n• E-Mobility. \nAuthors are requested to register at Easy Chair and submit the title of the paper and an abstract of 300 words or a topic for posters in English. All accepted papers will be published in the SUMO proceedings as part of the EPiC Series. The full paper versions of papers must be submitted in LaTeX or Word and PDF format before midnight\, Friday\, 22th of February 2019. Submitters will receive feedback by Friday\, 12th of March 2019. The final papers should be between 5 and 20 pages long. \nKeynote Speaker: Peter Vortisch (KIT – Institut für Verkehrswesen IfV). \nSocial event on Monday May 13\, 2019 at 5 p.m and on Tuesday May 14\, 2019. \nContact: sumo-conference@dlr.de. \nFor participation\, please register here.

SUMMARY:{:de}6. Nationale Konferenz "Satellitenkommunikation in Deutschland"{:}{:en}Sixth ‘Satellite Communication in Germany’ Conference{:}
DESCRIPTION:The sixth national ‘Satellite Communication in Germany’ conference will be held on 14–15 May 2019\, once more at the Kameha Grand Hotel in Bonn. Senior representatives from industry and research will join public funding agencies. They will discuss how satellite communication is an indispensable contribution to communication networks in tomorrow’s world. \nIn addition to scientific talks\, the event will also feature overview talks and panel discussions on the following topics:\n• Satellites in the 5G mobile communications network / digitalisation\n• Terrestrial-space network\n• On-board processing for more flexible networks\n• Secure communication in government and commercial networks\n• Innovative payload technologies\n• Future satellite systems\n• Optical communications networks. \nThere will also be an opportunity to present exhibits during the event that address relevant topics\, as well as to give short talks.\nWe will again provide students and doctoral candidates with the opportunity to present their bachelor’s\, master’s or doctoral theses in the form of DIN A0 posters. All participants at the conference will be asked to rate the work presented. A prize for the best contribution will be awarded at the end of the conference.

SUMMARY:{:de}DLR-Astroseminar 2019: 50 Jahre Mondlandung - und danach (Teil 3){:}{:en}DLR Astro Seminar 2019: 50th anniversary of the Moon landing – and since (part 3){:}
DESCRIPTION:Picture: NASA \n3. The Moon as a test bed for the General Theory of Relativity \nPlease note that all lectures of the 2019 Astroseminar are fully booked. Registration is no longer possible at this point. In case you wish to be waitlisted\, please send an email to Rebecca.Bartkowski@dlr.de. \n+++ Alternative Date: 15 may 2019 10:00 to 12:00 a.m. at Karl Rahner Akademie\, Jabachstraße 4-8\, 50676 Köln +++ \nPredicted by the general theory of relativity\, the deflection of light rays in the Sun’s gravitational field was confirmed 100 years ago. Since the astronauts on the Apollo 11\, 14 and 15 missions placed laser reflectors on the surface of the Moon\, it has also been possible to measure its trajectory precisely and hence verify the Moon’s relativistic equation of motion. \nThe Earth and the Moon move around their shared centre of gravity\, which itself moves in the Sun’s gravitational field. The task of developing a theory of lunar motion that is consistent with observations has occupied astronomers since the earliest days of celestial mechanics. Measuring the Moon’s trajectory by means of lunar laser ranging has enabled scientists to verify the effects predicted by the theory of relativity for the last 50 years. \nProfessor Hans-Joachim Blome was a research fellow at the Institute for Astrophysics\, University of Bonn\, and at DLR for many years. As professor at FH Aachen – University of Applied Sciences\, he taught and researched at the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering until 2016. His work focuses on gravitational physics\, the dynamics of space flight and cosmology. Professor Blome is the author of numerous scientific and popular works in these fields\, including “Der Urknall”\, Blome/Zaun\, published in C.H. Beck-Verlag. \nThe event will be held at the Air Force Conference Centre\, Wahn Air Force Base. Information on how to enter the Base complex and the parking facilities will be published ahead of the event on www.dlr.de. \nFor more information on the topic of the Astro Seminar\, please contact Dr Manfred Gaida. \n  \n  \n
