SUMMARY:Bundesgartenschau (BUGA) 2023
DESCRIPTION:The German national garden show 2023 (short BUGA for “Bundesgartenschau”) in Mannheim will take place over 178 days from 14 April to 8 October 2023. For this purpose two areas Luisenpark and Spinelli Park\, will be developed on a total of 104 ha and connected with a cable car. \nAs a first use case for an automated ride operation\, the use of the prototype U-Shift is planned at BUGA23 in the experimental field. Approximately 2 million visitors are expected\, representing an operational scenario similar to a pedestrian zone due to the many contact points. \nIn order to demonstrate the U-Shift\, to give potential visitors the opportunity to exchange ideas with the scientists and to inform themselves about the prototypes\, a DLR pavilion will be the hub for DLR at the BUGA\, to which the experimental field is connected.

SUMMARY:GLOC - Global Space Conference on Climate Change 2023
DESCRIPTION:Following its mission to promote international development and share knowledge\, the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) and its member the Norwegian Space Agency (NOSA) are pleased to announce that the 2023 Global Space Conference on Climate Change (GLOC 2023) will be taking place in Oslo\, Norway on 23 – 25 May 2023. GLOC 2023 will contribute to the global efforts to better understand and battle climate change through the use of space-based services and applications. First conference of its kind\, GLOC 2023 is designed to encourage the sharing of programmatic\, technical and policy information\, as well as collaborative solutions\, challenges\, lessons learnt\, and paths forward among all nations. \nGLOC 2023 will focus on the theme “Fire and Ice – Space for Climate Action” and will address various topics of interest in relation to space and climate change with a specific focus on: \n\nClimate change impacts on the environment\nApplications and services driven by climate change\nImpacts of a changing climate on policy and law\nCommercial opportunities created by a changing climate\nPresent and future international collaboration on space missions related to climate change\nSocial\, communications\, economic and cultural dimensions of environmental change\n\nThe conference programme is designed to bring together the international community\, including senior representatives of the major space agencies\, industries\, governments\, policy makers\, academia and NGOs\, as well as representatives of non-space sectors involved in the climate change debate. These leaders in the field will converge in Oslo\, Norway to present results\, exchange ideas\, debate roadmaps\, and discuss the future opportunities provided by space activities to contribute to the global climate change mitigation efforts.

SUMMARY:{:de}Abschlussveranstaltung des Projekts GreAT{:}{:en}Final Event of the GreAT Project{:}
DESCRIPTION:GreAT (Greener Air Traffic Operations) is a Horizon 2020 research project that focuses on optimising air traffic control practices and procedures to minimise environmental impact. The final event of the project will be held on 24 May 2023 at the KLM headquarters in Amsterdam. All interested are invited to participate. Attendance will be possible in person as well as online. \nSince the beginning of 2020\, partners from Europe and China have been investigating various concepts and concept elements that enable or contribute to a “Greener” Air Traffic Management\, including arrival / departure procedures at medium-size and hub airports\, but also taxi operations on the airport surface as well as en-route traffic management. This research also included experiments to demonstrate the benefits of our ideas in a set of fast-time and real-time simulations. \nAfter a project runtime of 42 months\, the Horizon 2020 project comes to a close in summer 2023. This final event\, that addresses all interested external parties\, will provide deeper insights into the findings of the research work and showcase the key concepts and proposals. Two major European partners of GreAT\, namely DLR and HungaroControl\, will present new concepts and procedures for environmentally friendly yet efficient traffic management in the terminal area of medium-size and hub airports. \nParticipation\nThe final event is aimed at the interested public and is is free of charge.To prepare the event in the best possible way\, please kindly confirm your attendance (including full name\, organization\, email address\, online or physical attendance and the car license plate\, if applicable). \nPlease send your registration by email to contact@project-great.eu by 5 May\, 2023. \nThe physical event is limited to 50 persons. Online attendees will receive a link to the live stream one day in advance. \nWe remain at your disposal for any further questions: contact@project-great.eu. \nEvent Location\nAmsterdamseweg 55\n1182 GP Amstelveen\nThe Netherlands \nAgenda\n09:00 Welcome (KLM\, DLR\, CINEA)\n09:25 Introduction to GreAT project (DLR)\n10:00 DLR experiments incl. environmental impact assessment (DLR\, UPM)\n12:00 Lunch\n13:00 HungaroControl experiments incl. environmental impact assessment (HungaroControl\, UPM)\n15:00 DLR and HungaroControl demonstration tours (DLR\, HungaroControl)\n16:00 Coffee break\n16:30 Summary of other findings (DLR)\n17:00 Conclusions (DLR\, L-Up)\n17:30 End
