SUMMARY:4th International Workshop on Carnot Batteries
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the 4th International Workshop on Carnot Batteries!\n\n\n\n\nThe challenge of solving the energy storage issue is a significant one for our society. Integrating intermittent sources of electric power from renewable energies into the future energy infrastructure requires gigawatt-hour storage capacities. \nThe cost-effective and site-independent storage of electrical energy at the scale of a large city’s daily consumption is crucial for the integration of renewable energy into a sustainable future energy system. The isentropic energy storage system technology shows promise in addressing this challenge. Carnot batteries are a developing technology for cost-effective and location-independent storage of electric energy at a gigawatt-hour scale. Also known as Pumped Thermal Electricity Storage (PTES)\, Pumped Heat Electricity Storage (PHES)\, or Electro-Thermal Energy Storage (ETES)\, a Carnot Battery converts electricity into heat\, stores the heat in low-cost storage media such as water or molten salt\, and converts the heat back to electricity when needed. More economically and environmentally friendly than conventional batteries\, Carnot Batteries have the potential to solve the global storage problem for renewable electricity. \nThe technology of the Carnot Battery has been subject to intensive energy research over the last few years. There are many international research activities on a theoretical and experimental level\, and several concepts for Carnot batteries have been proposed. The growing interest in this technology is also evident in the establishment of the IEA Storage Annex 36 ‘Carnot Batteries’. \nThe 4th International Workshop on Carnot batteries will convene energy storage experts\, with a particular focus on thermal energy storage\, to discuss the latest research and demonstration of Carnot batteries. The two-day lecture programme will provide a comprehensive overview of innovative research approaches\, covering various Carnot battery concepts\, their demonstration\, and integration into the power grid and sector coupling. Speakers from both science and industry have already confirmed their participation. The workshop is an international platform for the presentation and international visibility of the latest results in Carnot battery research. \nWe will be happy to welcome you @Stuttgart! \n \nAt a glance\nDate: The 4th International Workshop on\nCarnot Batteries\, jointly organised by KIT\,\nUniversity of Stuttgart and DLR\, will take place in \nStuttgart from 23-25 September 2024 \nCall for Abstracts: If you are submitting an abstract\,\nplease read all the information under ‘Call for Abstracts‘ first. \nImportant Deadlines \n\n\n\nAbstract submission opens\n01 February 2024\n\n\nAbstract Submission deadline\n15 April 2024\n\n\nResults of the abstract review notified to authors\nby June 2024\n\n\nFinal conference registration for all presenters

SUMMARY:{:de}6. Nationaler Weltraumwetterworkshop 2024{:}{:en}6th National Space Weather Workshop 2024{:}
DESCRIPTION:The German Aerospace Center is inviting experts from scientific institutions\, commercial companies and government agencies to the 6th National Space Weather Workshop from 24-26 September 2024. \nThe 6th workshop is intended to continue the successful series of events at the DLR site in Neustrelitz in order to do justice to the constantly growing relevance of space weather to our highly technological society and to further intensify the topic in Germany. \nThe 6th National Space Weather Workshop is a non-public event. Participation in the workshop is possible by registering on the website. \nWe look forward to receiving your contributions (“abstracts”)\, which can be submitted via the website from 15.05.2024-15.06.2024. Please note that the submission period is only one month. Participation in the workshop is of course also possible without submitting an abstract. \nPlease register for the 6th National Space Weather Workshop by 2 September 2024 at the latest. The number of participants is limited to 80 due to local conditions and only early registration will ensure participation.

SUMMARY:WindEnergy Hamburg 2024
DESCRIPTION:The WindEnergy Hamburg trade fair is an international trade fair for the wind industry. More than 1\,600 national and international exhibitors present their latest products and services at WindEnergy Hamburg\, covering the entire value chain of the wind industry\, both onshore and offshore. The range of exhibits includes systems and components\, planning and realisation\, materials\, production and storage\, as well as maintenance\, certification and quality management. The WindEnergy Hamburg trade fair reflects both the dynamics of the industry and developments in current and future key markets worldwide. \nDLR will be represented at the joint stand of the Wind Energy Research Association in Hall B6 Stand B6.464. \nFounded in 2013\, the Wind Energy Research Alliance pools the expertise of around 600 scientists to provide pioneering impetus for the energy supply of the future. The three partners\, the German Aerospace Centre (DLR)\, ForWind – Centre for Wind Energy Research at the Universities of Oldenburg\, Hanover and Bremen – and the Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy Systems (Fraunhofer IWES)\, are in a position to successfully work on long-term and strategically important large-scale projects thanks to their personnel strength and networking with industry\, politics and research. With this broad competence base\, the German wind energy industry is supported in maintaining its technological leadership in international competition. The joint presence in the research alliance has international appeal and opens up synergies for upcoming major projects in the wind industry\, which is increasingly professionalising its processes.
