SUMMARY:{:de}Global Space Congress{:}{:en}Global Space Congress{:}
DESCRIPTION:The Global Space Congress is a strategic gathering of global space industry leaders taking place in Abu Dhabi. The Congress brings together key public and private stakeholders to evaluate the best opportunities in the space sector and to get exposure to the world’s latest space programmes. \nThe Global Space Congress hosts discussions and initiatives that will have a practical and lasting impact on the overall development of the space sector – in the Middle East and globally. The Congress is an important gathering of the global space industry that has grown from the Global Space and Satellite forum\, and which is now taking place for the sixth time. More than 600 experts from the across the world will come together at the GSC\, including heads of space agencies\, executives from leading space and aerospace companies\, government officials\, top researchers and academics. \nIn 2017\, DLR will for the first time have its own exhibition stand at the GSC. In addition\, there will be keynote speeches by DLR Chair\, Pascale Ehrenfreund\, and Gerd Gruppe\, Executive Board Member responsible for the DLR Space Administration.

SUMMARY:{:de}WerkstoffPlus Auto - 7. TAGUNG FÜR NEUE FAHRZEUG- UND WERKSTOFFKONZEPTE{:}{:en}WerkstoffPlus Auto – 7th CONFERENCE FOR NEW VEHICLE AND MATERIAL CONCEPTS{:}
DESCRIPTION:The conference for new vehicle and material concepts is right around the corner. Under the new name of WerkstoffPlus Auto\, proven experts and exhibitors from industry and science will come together at Alte Reithalle Stuttgart from 15 – 16 February 2017 to report on trendsetting developments in the use of materials in personal and commercial vehicles. \nMaterials technologies are and will remain among the most prestigious disciplines in automotive engineering\, as innovations in this field are frequently based on further developments in the materials and the materials technologies. Over two days\, experts from industry and research will hold six specialist sessions addressing a broad variety of issues. For example\, new vehicle concepts and designs will remain driving forces of the use of alternative materials in automobiles. In future\, materials incorporated in the development process and Manufacturing 4.0 will open the door to new and interesting options. Lightweight construction remains a key technology for reducing driving resistance. The ability to master the challenges of multi-material design is a key component of the overall solutions. The event also offers insight into trends from other regions around the world\, which will be presented under the motto ‘Best of Science – Networked Worldwide’. The question of which materials will be fit for the future in the various design concepts therefore remains an exciting topic. \nThe panel discussion with selected experts will focus on the question: ‘Will additive manufacturing be the Material Technology 4.0?’. In the accompanying exhibition\, OEMs and suppliers will present new and innovative material applications and manufacturing methods.

SUMMARY:{:de}Das 6. Stuttgarter EnergieSpeicherSymposium{:}{:en}The Sixth Symposium on Energy Storage{:}
DESCRIPTION:Storage for energy-intensive industrial processes \nIndustrial plants account for almost one third of end-use energy consumption. If they are to be optimally adapted to an energy system with a high proportion of regenerative – and therefore fluctuating – electricity\, energy-intensive industrial processes need to be planned differently. Harmonising the fluctuating provision of regenerative energy with consumption will be a major challenge for the industrial sector. Heat and energy storage systems help companies make their processes more flexible. But storage technologies will have to be adapted and optimised to suit industrial processes.\nWe warmly invite you to join us in the discussion of aspects of systems and technologies for energy-intensive industrial processes at the Sixth Symposium on Energy Storage on Wednesday\, 22 February from 09:30 to 16:30. \nTutorials on energy storage technologies will be offered for the first time from 17:00 on Tuesday\, 21 February 2017\, before moving on to a Meet & Greet at 19:00 in which we will present our recently opened laboratory for energy storage research in the new building at the DLR site in Stuttgart!
