SUMMARY:{:de}Ausstellung "Highlights aus der Bremer Weltraumforschung"{:}{:en}Exhibition: "Space Research Highlights from Bremen"{:}
DESCRIPTION:Space has always been a source of fascination for humankind – one that manifests itself through the exploration of Earth from space\, the discovery of otherworldly celestial bodies and our attempts to enable life on other planets in the Solar System. With more than 140 companies and 20 institutes\, Bremen is one of the most important locations for the aerospace sector and is continuously advancing exploration of the vastness of space. From 10–26 March\, Universum® Bremen is showcasing Bremen’s space research highlights. \nHow do scientists detect greenhouse gases using satellites? Can tomatoes be harvested on the Moon? Can gravitational waves of black holes be measured? Is Einstein’s Theory of Relativity currently being disproved in space? And what role is Bremen playing in developing the first independent European satellite navigation system? A total of eight accurately detailed models provide exciting insights into past\, present and future space research projects. All exhibits are on loan from institutions in and around Bremen\, namely the Centre for Applied Space Technology and Microgravity (ZARM)\, the German Aerospace Center (DLR)\, the Institute of Environmental Physics (IUP) at the University of Bremen\, OHB Systems AG and the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics (Albert Einstein Institute). The project is supported by the German Physics Society (DPG)\, which is holding its spring conference in Bremen at the same time. \n‘Space research highlights from Bremen’ will be open from 10–26 March on the ground floor of the permanent exhibition at Universum® Bremen (Wiener Straße 1a\, 28359 Bremen). Entry to the exhibit is included in the Universum® ticket.

DESCRIPTION:The German Aerospace Center (DLR) will showcase its current research projects relating to the topic of fibre-reinforced composites at the JEC World Composites Show – the world’s leading fair for composite materials – from 14 to 16 March 2017 in Paris. The Institute of Structures and Design\, the Institute of Composite Structures and Adaptive Systems and the Center for Lightweight Production Technology (ZLP) in Augsburg and Stade will come together at the DLR stand (Hall 5a\, D59 + E59) to provide insight into their broad excellence across the entire process chain – from the development of revolutionary structures and manufacturing technologies\, to solutions in automated production.

DESCRIPTION:The DLR Space Administration has again prepared an interesting agenda for the Fifth National Conference on Satellite Communication in Germany\, which will be held at the Kameha Grand Hotel  in Bonn from 28 until 29 March 2017. Senior representatives from industry\, research and government will discuss satellite communication as a breeding place for tomorrow’s information society. In addition to specialist talks\, the agenda also includes keynote speeches and podium discussions on the following topics: \n•	‘New Space’ (or not)?\n•	New production standards instead of ECSS?\n•	On demand video to replace broadcasting?\n•	Does the future belong to integrated applications?\n•	Large GEO satellites or mega constellations?\n•	Is the future ‘all-electric’?\n•	Venture capital instead of (and/or) public-sector funding?\n•	What challenges will the coming decade bring? \nIt will once again be possible to display exhibits and to hold brief talks that consider these topics.\nStudents and postgraduates will once again be able to present their bachelor\, master or Ph.D. theses in the form of DIN A0 posters. All participants at the conference will be requested to rate the work on show.
