DESCRIPTION:The French Aerospace Lab\, ONERA\, and the German Aerospace Center\, DLR\, are pleased to announce the 17th Onera-DLR Aerospace Symposium\, ODAS 2017. \nThis Symposium is alternatively held in France and in Germany. Its aim is to gather PhD students and young scientists (less than 35 years old) from ONERA and DLR\, in order to foster scientific and personal exchanges between both research establishments. The attendance is limited to ONERA and DLR speakers and close colleagues\, in order to keep a workshop format and spirit; some outside speakers may be invited in order to provide an external point of view. \nODAS 2017 will be devoted to CFD and associated experimental validation. \nIt includes topics such as: CFD of external and internal flows\, CFD of reactive and non reactive flows\, wind-tunnel experiments\, aerothermal experiments\, combustion experiments\, measurement techniques in fluids\, post -processing of fluid flow data\, assimilation of fluid flow data.\nThe ODAS program will be established on the basis of submitted abstracts\, selected by the Technical Committee. These abstracts of less than 500 words shall be edited according to the joint template\, and illustrated by typical results.\nProceedings of the full papers will be provided as a memory stick during the meeting. \nThe “ODAS Award 2017” will be delivered to the “Best paper prepared and presented by a Young Scientist”\, considering its technical content and scientific argumentation\, its clarity and originality (including innovation aspects) and the quality of its oral presentation. DESCRIPTION:The Knowledge Management Days will be held from June 19 – 20\, 2017 in Cologne\, Germany and will be hosted by the German Aerospace Center (DLR). \nAbout the Workshop\nSpace organizations and industry make use of a large variety of methods to capture\, store\, organize\, and distribute key findings\, Lessons Learned and Knowledge from their experts and missions. The workshop shall give an overview on how Knowledge Management (KM) systems are realized within different Space organizations and on the processes and tools which are used. For this purpose\, presentations will be given by different organizations and industry and will then be the subject of group discussion. Besides the workshops and the networking activities we will offer a guided tour to the site of the German Aerospace Center in Cologne/ ESA facilities and a barbecue. \n  \nObjectives\n\nEstablish a forum for the international space community to discuss and share best practices on Knowledge Management including Operations (methods\, processes\, tools).\nShow Best Practises and Use Cases for Knowledge Management\nFormulate recommendations for collaboration\, for example by identifying use cases.\nCreate networking opportunities and build a community of practice on the topic of Lessons Learned.

The symposium addresses all relevant areas of technology\, starting with the material and design of components\, to the integration of features and the proof of reliability for complex systems. In addition to classic applications in active vibration\, noise and structural control\, the symposium will investigate numerous other applications such as structural health monitoring (SHM) or energy harvesting. The second 4SMARTS has the clear task of building networks in the field of mechatronic and adaptive electronics engineering in order to transfer innovative ideas from research into industrial applications. By doing so\, it will sow the seeds of cooperation and innovation in the area of smart structures and systems.

DESCRIPTION:It is that time of year again. On 24 June 2017 DLR will open its doors to visitors for the Long Night of the Sciences in Berlin. Night owls\, thirsty for knowledge\, will once again be spirited away into the world of DLR research in Berlin to learn about the knowledge that DLR is gaining for tomorrow’s world. How will we travel in the future? What’s happening in space? How is our planet doing and which things have yet to be discovered here? Scientists from the DLR institutes and research facilities in Berlin-Adlershof will provide answers to all these questions through interesting talks\, spectacular shows and thrilling experiments. In addition to an immensely varied programme for inquisitive adults\, there will also be plenty to discover for young researchers at the DLR_School_Lab. DLR looks forward to welcoming visitors once again in Berlin-Adlershof.
