SUMMARY:{:de}Fotoausstellung „Space Girls Space Women“{:}{:en}Photo Exhibition „Space Girls Space Women“{:}
DESCRIPTION:Picture: ESA \n  \nWomen who reach for the stars \nIs it a man’s world in space? No way! The ‘Space Girls Space Women’ photography exhibition\, to be showcased for the first time in Germany from 11 January to 14 October 2018 at Universum® Bremen\, presents 24 very special women from the space industry: girls who have their heads in the stars\, female students who are passionate about space and female experts who are at the heart of the space adventure. Inspired by the international touring exhibition\, Universum® is also showcasing seven portraits of Bremen women who are pursuing their dream career in the space sector. \n‘Space Girls Space Women’ is organised by the international photographic agency\, Sipa Press\, and made possible thanks to the commitment of the European Space Agency (ESA). The French Space Agency\, CNES\, the NEREUS network\, the French theme park\, Cité de l’espace\, and the European Union’s Agency for Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GSA) are also involved in this collaboration. \nDate: The ‘Space Girls Space Women’ photographic exhibition will be on display from 11 January to 14 October 2018 at Universum® Bremen (Wiener Straße 1a\, 28359 Bremen). Entry is included in the standard admission price. \n

SUMMARY:{:de}JEC WORLD 2018{:}{:en}JEC WORLD 2018{:}
DESCRIPTION:From 06-08 March 2018\, the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR) is going to present current research projects in the field of fibre-reinforced high-performance plastics at JEC World in Paris\, the leading European trade fair for fibre composite construction. This time\, the joint presentation of the DLR Institute of Composite Structures and Adaptive Systems and the Center for Lightweight Production Technology (ZLP)\, located in Stade\, will focus on innovative technologies for the efficient production of composite fibre components. At the approximately 80-square-metre DLR stand\, located in Hall 5a (E66)\, scientists are going to explain and demonstrate a wide range of applications\, particularly in the field of aerospace. \nParis is at the same time the mainstay of the largest international start-up competition for innovations in the fibre composite industry. \nThe program is open to entrepreneurs with an innovative project\, a SME or a Startup – including academic spinoffs\, who want to meet the world leaders in the composites industry to bring them to the next level. \n \nFurther information\, including how to submit projects\, can be found at ->Link

SUMMARY:{:de}7. Stuttgarter EnergieSpeicherSymposium{:}{:en}7th Stuttgart Energy Storage Symposium{:}
DESCRIPTION:Problematic transportation? Energy storage for mobility\nMobility is a hot topic. The engine of the future should be clean\, affordable\, convenient and always available. The over 100-year history of the development of the combustion engine shows that it has become increasingly efficient and clean. However\, the finite nature of fossil fuels\, climate change and smog call for alternative solutions from the automotive industry\, such as the electric drive. \nBut as this is already technologically advanced\, drive technology is not the problem. Rather\, storage and appropriate infrastructure still need a lot of development. Energy storage systems in the form of batteries\, hydrogen or alternative fuels will determine which route electro-mobility will take. \nAt the 7th Stuttgart Energy Storage Symposium in 2018\, we will examine the charging infrastructure for battery-powered electric vehicles and fuel cell vehicles\, the availability of alternative fuels and the technological aspects\, from industrial and scientific perspectives to the various drive concepts. \nYou are cordially invited to join us to systemically and technologically examine and discuss all aspects of ‘Problematic transportation’: energy storage for mobility at the 7th Stuttgart Energy Storage Symposium on Thursday\, 22 March 2018 from 9:30 to 16:30. \nOn Wednesday\, 21 March 2018 there will be tutorials on energy storage technologies at 17:00\, followed by a MEET & GREET at 7:00 pm.

SUMMARY:{:de}Führungen durchs DLR Institut für Raumfahrtsysteme{:}{:en}Guided tours of the DLR Institute of Space Systems{:}
DESCRIPTION:The German Aerospace Center (DLR) is the national aeronautics and space research centre of the Federal Republic of Germany. Visit DLR’s Institute of Space Systems in Bremen\, one of 20 DLR sites across Germany. \nThe Institute of Space Systems\, based in Bremen since 2007\, designs and analyses future spacecraft and space missions and assesses their technical performance and cost. This includes launchers\, orbital and exploration systems and satellites. The Institute also develops\, builds and operates its own spacecraft and missions for scientific investigations and technology demonstrations. In order to facilitate future space missions and improve the performance of existing technologies\, the Institute researches system-relevant technologies. \nTake a look behind the scenes of DLR \nLearn all about the Institute and its current projects during a guided tour of the laboratory building: why do we want to grow tomatoes on the Moon and Mars? How does a lander land on an asteroid and how do we monitor ships from space?\nCurrent projects set out to answer these questions. Visitors also have the opportunity to view a selection of laboratories and test facilities: the integration hall\, where satellites are assembled\, the Landing and Mobility Test Facility (LAMA)\, where the famous Philae lander was tested\, and the Cryo-Lab\, where scientific and technical issues of cryogenic fuel handling are investigated. Immerse yourself in the world of space research and see how Bremen contributes to this. \nDates\n26.01 = German + English\n23.02 = German + Spanish\n27.04 = German (fully booked) + English\n25.05 = German (fully booked) + Spanish\n29.06 = German (fully booked)\n27.07 = German (fully booked)\n31.08 = German (fully booked)\n28.09 = German (fully booked) + English\nAll at 15:00 \nAdmission is free of charge \nMeeting point:\nRobert-Hooke-Straße 7 \nRegistration is required for DLR guided tours and begins on 11 January 2018. Please call us on +49 (0)421 / 30 800 10 or e-mail your request to info@bremen-tourism.de. \nRegistration and further information at: https://www.bremen-tourismus.de/dlr\nThe complete event calendar for the space year in Bremen is available at www.sternstunden2018.de
