DESCRIPTION:Picture: Vadim Sadovski \n  \nFifty years after Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin set foot on the Moon\, a major exhibition at the Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum (HNF) in Paderborn will chart the conquest of space. Running from 5 July 2019 to 19 April 2020\, the exhibition titled “Aufbruch ins All” (“Breakup into Space”) will whisk visitors away on an adventurous journey through time and space. Spread over 800 square metres\, the exhibition is set against an awe-inspiring backdrop of darkness\, planets and space vehicles. In addition to historical and technological exhibits such as robots\, propulsion systems and control modules\, models of rockets or the International Space Station (ISS) will illustrate how humankind has ventured forth into the Universe. \nVisitors will be able to take a seat in a replica of the Apollo 17 lunar module to enjoy a virtual drive across the Moon. A virtual reality tour will let them explore the ISS and conduct a docking manoeuvre lying down in a reconstructed Soyuz capsule. They will also have the chance to take a selfie as astronauts and to discover the layers of a spacesuit using an augmented reality application. Many of the interactive exhibits have been specially created and provide a unique experience of space. There will be a Lunar Lander Land playground for children\, where they will be able to weigh planets\, leave their footprint in ‘lunar dust’ and clamber through a moon landing craft. \nThis exhibition was designed by HNF in cooperation with the DLR Space Administration. Admission to the exhibition will cost €5.00\, with reduced tickets available for €3.00. A family ticket will cost €10.00 and will include access to the permanent exhibition. Guided tours will be organised for groups and there will be a series of talks catering to aerospace and astronomy enthusiasts.

DESCRIPTION:In den nächsten drei Jahren müssen die Weichen im europäischen Raumtransport gestellt werden\, damit sich Europa und insbesondere auch Deutschland eine nachhaltige und auch sichtbare Rolle im Raumtransport sichert. Weltweit neue Trägerentwicklungen markieren den Beginn einer Trendwende – mit gravierenden Folgen für den kommerziellen Trägermarkt. Will Europa sich einen unabhängigen und bezahlbaren Zugang zum All sichern\, müssen neue Technologien weiter entwickelt und getestet werden. Technologien\, wie wiederverwendbare Trägersysteme oder auch neue Antriebssysteme mit Flüssigsauerstoff und Flüssigmethan bieten dafür große Chancen. Die heißt es zu ergreifen: Dazu müssen auch die Test- und Startanlagen zukunftsfähig ausgerichtet werden. Sie sind integraler Bestandteil einer nachhaltigen und wirtschaftlichen europäischen Trägerstrategie. Das ist das zentrale Thema der diesjährigen Industrial Days beim DLR in Lampoldshausen\, zu denen führende Vertreter aus Raumfahrtagenturen\, Industrie und Wissenschaft eingeladen sind. Insbesondere wird auch gezeigt\, wie die großen existierenden Infrastrukturen für KMUs und Start-ups im Raumfahrtbereich zugänglich gemacht werden können.

SUMMARY:IEA Task 49/IV Solar Process Heat 1st Experts Meeting and Industry Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Further information will follow. \nWelcome to the 1st Experts Meeting and Industry Workshop on Solar Process Heat of the joint IEA SHC Task 49\nand SolarPACES Task IV on March 26th and 27th 2020. \nYou are cordially invited to join the Task Meeting and/or the Industry Workshop on Solar Process Heat at the premises of DLR in Cologne. \nThe industrial sector accounts for approximately 30% of the total energy consumption in the OECD countries. The major share of the energy that is needed in industrial companies\, services and agriculture is used for heating and cooling of buildings and for production processes at temperatures from ambient up to approx. 400-500°C. This is a temperature range that can well be addressed with solar thermal technologies. \nThe newly founded IEA Task “Solar Process Heat” addresses this field of energy supply within subtasks which will be discussed on March 26th:\nSubtask A: Integrated energy systems\nSubtask B: Modularization\nSubtask C: Simulation and design tools\nSubtask D: Standardization/Certification\nSubtask E: Guideline to market \nThe next day’s industry workshop focuses on the exchange between industrial and scientific experts for the implementation of solar thermal process heat technologies in Central Europe.\nParticipants will be informed about the status of projects worldwide\, energy supply from solar and the related costs. Solar field suppliers\, EPC’s and contractors will share their technical experience. This will be complemented by speeches on financing and business models as well as financing funding opportunities in Central Europe.\nFor a major share of the time discussions are planned among the participants as to find solutions for a faster implementation of solar thermal process heat technologies.
