SUMMARY:{:de}The United Nations/Germany World Space Forum 2024 "Sustainable Space for Sustainability on Earth"{:}{:en}The United Nations/Germany World Space Forum 2024 "Sustainable Space for Sustainability on Earth"{:}
DESCRIPTION:The United Nations/Germany World Space Forum 2024 “Sustainable Space for Sustainability on Earth” will take place on 03 – 05 December 2024 in Bonn\, Germany. It is jointly organized by the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs\, and the German Space Agency at DLR on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). \nThe World Space Forum event series aims to strengthen partnerships and advance the ongoing dialogue among the global community on a wide range of space issues to facilitate socio-economic sustainable development. The Forum promotes the implementation of the “Space2030″ Agenda: space as a driver of sustainable development and its implementation plan” adopted by the General Assembly in its resolution 76/3 through the broad involvement of all relevant space actors. \nThis year’s event in Bonn\, Germany\, will have a special focus on the UN Summit of the Future held in September 2024 in New York. The Summit of the Future seeks to enhance cooperation on critical challenges and to address gaps in global governance. The Pact for the Future\, to be adopted during the Summit\, aims to reaffirm existing commitments and move towards a reinvigorated multilateral system that can effectively tackle future challenges\, including the peaceful use of outer space. The World Space Forum 2024 provides an opportunity to draw attention to space solutions that effectively support the areas identified in the Pact\, offering an opportunity for participants to discuss its implementation regarding space just three months after its adoption. \nFurthermore\, the outcomes of the Forum will be reported to the UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space in the context of the upcoming mid-term review of the Space2030 Agenda\, adopted by the UN General Assembly. \nThe World Space Forum brings together experts and policy makers from international\, regional\, national and local institutions\, private organizations\, academia\, and non-governmental organizations. This multi-stakeholder composition allows for a truly inclusive\, diverse and multilateral dialogue around the four pillars of space economy\, space society\, space accessibility and space diplomacy. \nThe official language of the event is English.

SUMMARY:{:de}9. Humanphysiologischer Workshop{:}{:en}9th Human Physiology Workshop{:}
DESCRIPTION:The Human Physiology Workshop (HPW) is targeted to young investigators with the aim to provide a forum where they can present and discuss ‘fresh’ topics and data. HPW meetings are meant to stimulate discussion\, and to provide the opportunity to learn more about the different organ systems of human body\, and how they interact with each other. The ultimate objective is to support a research network that can train and educate researchers in the field of human physiology. \n  \nRelevant topics include but are not limited to: \n\nAerospace medicineExtreme environments\nExercise and training\nStressors and behavior\n\nBackground: Humans have evolved as a physically active species in the gravitational field of the Earth. As a consequence\, our bodies require a relatively high amount of physical activity and mechanical loading\, and these stimuli are essential for health. Humans have also demonstrated that they can adapt to a wide range of climates and habitats\, ranging from polar conditions to the tropical zones\, from sub-aquatic to high altitude environments and even to space. These adaptive responses generally affect the human body as an integrated system\, and specific diseases\, where a certain adaptive mechanism is disrupted can be provide a deepened insight into the systems physiology and systems biology of the human body.

SUMMARY:{:de}DLR Weihnachtsvorlesung 2024{:}{:en}DLR Christman Lecture{:}
DESCRIPTION:We cordially invite you to the Christmas Lecture of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Stuttgart on 10 December 2024 at 6:30pm in Café Faust. \nIn the tradition of the much-loved British Christmas Lectures\, which the English natural scientist and physicist Michael Faraday initiated at the Royal Institution in the mid-19th century\, we are once again presenting an exciting topic from the DLR cosmos this year: Dr. Marc Philipp Linder from the DLR Institute of Engineering Thermodynamics will be presenting his research topic entitled “Heating for the climate?”. \n“Based on current DLR research results on CO2-free heating based on lime\, we are jointly exploring the question of whether CO2-negative heating could also be possible in the future. What effort would you be prepared to make to reverse the CO2 emissions of your last holiday trip with your heating system?” \nCome along and talk to us afterwards.\nWe look forward to your visit!
