DESCRIPTION:Training for teachers VBIO-NRW: Ecosystem Earth: Human-environment interaction in the 21st century \nOn 8 March 2025\, the 4th VBIO-NRW training course will take place in Cologne in cooperation with the German Physiological Society (DPG)\, the Society for Ecology (GfÖ) and the DLR Institute of Aerospace Medicine. Various lectures on the effects of environmental stressors will be held at the aerospace medicine research facility :envihab. The participants will then develop teaching materials and discuss them. \nThe content of the event: \nIn the age of the Anthropocene\, we have to deal with many environmental changes caused by humans that have significant consequences for biological\, geological and atmospheric processes on Earth. New technologies and the view from space enable us to detect changes and demonstrate the effects of environmental stressors. The lectures will look at a number of phenomena by way of example: the enormous performance of birds during their migrations\, for example\, and how forest ecosystems in Central Europe are managed and the consequences this has for biodiversity. The effects on humans are also considered\, as they are subject to the influence of a variety of environmental factors throughout their lives and react to these with their own regulatory mechanisms\, but also with illness. \nRegistration and further information

DESCRIPTION:The year 2025 has been declared the “International Year of Quantum Science and Technology” by the UN General Conference. This global initiative aims to recognise the pioneering contributions of quantum science to technological progress over the past 100 years\, raise global awareness of its importance for sustainable development in the 21st century and ensure that all nations have access to education in the field of quantum physics. A total of 57 countries are taking part in this important year\, which also emphasises the international unifying effect of science. In Germany\, the German Physical Society is coordinating the activities of the Quantum Year 2025\, which will be launched at the opening ceremony in Ulm. Nobel Prize winner Anne L’ Huillier has been invited by DLR.

DESCRIPTION:The German Aerospace Centre (DLR) is hosting a central event at XPost Cologne on Space Day 2025. Together with the European Space Agency (ESA)\, it will provide fascinating insights into the diversity of research into the fascination of space research and space technology. The topics range from the exploration of our planets in the solar system\, earth observation\, space systems and space medicine to communication and navigation and other applications from space for the earth. Various themed areas\, experience rooms and hands-on exhibits provide information about the latest developments and projects with which science and research are tackling the challenges facing society and attempting to unravel the mysteries of the universe. A colourful stage programme for families brings the fascination of space travel closer to all generations. Astronauts will talk about their experiences in space on stage. Children will have the opportunity to try out exciting experiments from the DLR_School_Labs themselves. \nParticipation in the event at XPOST is only possible with a ticket.
