Under the motto “A journey through time into the future”\, the interactive stage programme invites schoolchildren on a fascinating excursion into the world of tomorrow. Will there be space hotels one day? Or research stations on the moon or Mars? In addition to such exciting questions about space travel\, the educational and entertaining presentation also covers other topics and projects that the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) is working on – from next-generation aircraft to transport and energy research. \nThe 90-minute show is deliberately aimed at younger pupils in years 4 to 6\, with the presenters introducing them to current research projects as well as more far-reaching visions of the future\, with the audience being involved time and again. Sometimes everyone takes part in training for the flight into space\, sometimes children help on stage with an experiment using a thermal imaging camera. Some of the experimental set-ups were developed especially for the tour by DLR’s school laboratories\, the DLR_School_Labs. Others come from the team of the well-known science show “Die Physikanten”. The programme is often spectacular – for example\, when huge rings of fog float across the hall over the heads of the audience. Other parts of the programme are more fun – for example when hula hoops or a balloon in the shape of a unicorn are used.
