SUMMARY:DLR_Raumfahrt_Show 2025/2026
DESCRIPTION:The DLR_Raumfahrt_Show is going on tour again! Under the motto “A journey through time into the future”\, the interactive stage programme invites schoolchildren on a fascinating excursion into the world of tomorrow. Will there be space hotels one day? Or research stations on the moon or Mars? In addition to such exciting questions about space travel\, the educational and entertaining presentation also covers other topics and projects that the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) is working on – from next-generation aircraft to transport and energy research. \nThe 90-minute show is deliberately aimed at younger pupils in years 4 to 6\, with the presenters introducing them to current research projects as well as more far-reaching visions of the future\, with the audience being involved time and again. Sometimes everyone takes part in training for the flight into space\, sometimes children help on stage with an experiment using a thermal imaging camera. Some of the experimental set-ups were developed especially for the tour by DLR’s school laboratories\, the DLR_School_Labs. Others come from the team of the well-known science show “Die Physikanten”. The programme is often spectacular – for example\, when huge rings of fog float across the hall over the heads of the audience. Other parts of the programme are more fun – for example when hula hoops or a balloon in the shape of a unicorn are used. Or when the time machine “Holly” – another new feature of the DLR_Raumfahrt_Show – secretly tells the audience what it thinks during the quiz. \nFurther information and the tour schedule can be found here. \nRegistration required!

SUMMARY:{:de}SUMO Conference 2026{:}{:en}SUMO Conference 2026{:}
DESCRIPTION:Traffic simulations are of immense importance for researchers as well as practitioners in the field of transportation.\nEclipse SUMO (Simulation of Urban MObility) provides a wide range of traffic planning and simulation applications. \nThe SUMO Conference\, held every year in Berlin since 2013\, is a must-attend event for anyone involved with SUMO. It gathers international participants from the industry\, research and public institutions – to present (among others) projects\, studies and advancements all around traffic\, simulation and SUMO. The conference offers opportunities to learn about new features\, connect with other users\, engage with the developers\, exchange ideas\, and even start new collaborations. \n\n\nAs open source\, Eclipse SUMO is ready to implement new behaviour models or to control the simulation remotely via different programming environments. These and other features make Eclipse SUMO one of the most widely used open source traffic simulations with a large and international user community. \nThis year’s conference will be especially meaningful as we celebrate 25 years of SUMO! \nVisit the conference website here: SUMO-Conference \nThe conference language is English. \nWe look forward to seeing you in Berlin! \nIf you’re interested in registering as a student\, please get in touch with us via sumo-conference@dlr.de. We’ll be happy to provide you with an invitation code. \nThe registration will open on January 15th 2026 and ends on May 15th 2026: SUMO Conference 2026\n \n

SUMMARY:7th German-Japanese Workshop “Usage of Automotive Components in Space Applications”
DESCRIPTION:Following the signing of the Implementing Arrangement between the German Space Agency at DLR and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) in November 2023\, both agencies launched a joint initiative dedicated to the use of automotive technologies and EEE components for space applications. \nThe resulting German-Japanese network brings together companies\, research institutes\, and space agencies from both countries to exchange expertise\, discuss technological developments\, develop new project ideas\, and strengthen international cooperation across the space and automotive sectors. \nAs part of this initiative\, two workshops are organized each year\, one fully virtual and one hybrid event\, alternating between Germany and Japan. \nThe initiative aims to address the evolving challenges of using automotive and COTS components in New Space missions\, establish international best practices\, and promote cross-border collaboration between leading experts from Germany and Japan. \nThe German Space Agency at DLR\, in cooperation with Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)\, is organizing the 7th German-Japanese Workshop “Usage of Automotive EEE Components in Space Applications” on 9 June 2026 in Berlin.
