SUMMARY:{:de}Fotoausstellung „Space Girls Space Women“{:}{:en}Photo Exhibition „Space Girls Space Women“{:}
DESCRIPTION:Picture: ESA \n  \nWomen who reach for the stars \nIs it a man’s world in space? No way! The ‘Space Girls Space Women’ photography exhibition\, to be showcased for the first time in Germany from 11 January to 14 October 2018 at Universum® Bremen\, presents 24 very special women from the space industry: girls who have their heads in the stars\, female students who are passionate about space and female experts who are at the heart of the space adventure. Inspired by the international touring exhibition\, Universum® is also showcasing seven portraits of Bremen women who are pursuing their dream career in the space sector. \n‘Space Girls Space Women’ is organised by the international photographic agency\, Sipa Press\, and made possible thanks to the commitment of the European Space Agency (ESA). The French Space Agency\, CNES\, the NEREUS network\, the French theme park\, Cité de l’espace\, and the European Union’s Agency for Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GSA) are also involved in this collaboration. \nDate: The ‘Space Girls Space Women’ photographic exhibition will be on display from 11 January to 14 October 2018 at Universum® Bremen (Wiener Straße 1a\, 28359 Bremen). Entry is included in the standard admission price. \n

SUMMARY:{:de}KOMETEN – DIE MISSION ROSETTA{:}{:en}COMETS – THE ROSETTA MISSION {:}
DESCRIPTION:Journey to the Origins of the Solar System \nComets! They come from the outer reaches of the Solar System\, from regions far beyond the planets – billions of kilometres from the Sun. Comets are unusual\, spectacular and still relatively unexplored. They are dark bodies composed of dust and ice\, as old as the Solar System itself. As they approach the Sun\, they become active and their beauty unfolds against the night sky. Comets play a very important role in science. Will they reveal the key to the early history of Earth? Did the oceans’ waters arrive as cometary ice? Were hydrocarbon molecules from comets the fundamental building blocks of life on Earth?\nThese are the questions that are being investigated by the European Rosetta mission. After travelling for 10 years\, the Rosetta spacecraft reached comet 67P/Churyumov Gerasimenko. A few months later\, the spectacular landing of Philae on the comet’s surface made all the headlines. The mission came to an end in 2016 when the orbiter was set down on the comet in a controlled manoeuvre. Data from this scientific adventure is now available. The German Aerospace Center (DLR) invites you to the Natural History Museum Vienna\, where you will embark on a journey to the origins of the Solar System.

Germany – in collaboration with France – contributes to this mission with the MASCOT lander and four important scientific experiments which examine chemistry and physics of this asteroid. The mission goal is to gain knowledge about the dawn of the solar system and the formation and development of the planets. MASCOT is to land on Ryugu in October 2018 and to support measurements taken by Hayabusa-2. In 2020\, Hayabusa-2 will return to Earth\, carrying samples from Ryugu. \nThe exhibition „Contact with an asteroid – HAYABUSA2 & MASCOT“ of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) was developed and designed by the DLR institutes and facilities involved in the asteroid lander MASCOT with participation of external mission partners. \nThe exhibition takes place at Untere Rathaushalle (ground level) of Bremen´s town hall. The admission is free of charge. \nStaff from DLR´s Institute of Space Systems in Bremen in charge of the mission will guide through the exhibition on following days: \nTue 10 July 2018 6:00 p.m. \nSat 14 July 2018 11:00 a.m. \nSat 28 July 2018 11:00 a.m. \nSat 11 August 2018 11:00 a.m. \nSat 25 August 2018 11:00 a.m. \nSat 08 September 2018 11:00 a.m. \nSat 22.
