heatbrAIn – data for the heat transition

Introducing the DLR spin-off heatbrAIn

heatbrAIn – data-based solutions for the heat transition

Founded in March 2024 by Philip Groesdonk, Luis Blanco and Larissa Singer, heatbrAIn builds on the research conducted by their team at the DLR Institute of Solar Research. A spin-off, heatbrAIn develops innovative AI-powered data solutions to make the transition to sustainable heating more efficient.

At Hannover Messe, this young company is demonstrating how artificial intelligence and geodata analysis create a data foundation for optimising municipal heat planning, feasibility studies and transformation plans.

Precise data for a sustainable heat supply

The heat transition poses major challenges for cities, local authorities and energy suppliers. Existing building structures must be analysed, the potential for heating networks assessed and sustainable supply models developed. This is where heatbrAIn comes in:

  • Automated data collection: heatbrAIn consolidates official and open data sources to create a detailed picture of heat demand.
  • AI-powered analyses: heatbrAIn algorithms process large amounts of data and provide precise energy demand forecasts at the building level.
  • Customisable models: municipal utilities, planning offices and local authorities receive a reliable data foundation tailored to their needs, making it easier for them to make decisions.

With a screen-based exhibit, the start-up will present its development from research project to company, as well as demonstrating how the heatbrAIn software for data-driven heat planning works. Visitors can see how the calculations and modelling help to speed up planning processes, reduce costs and drive forward the heating transition.
