DLR Quantum Computing Initiative

A strong ecosystem for quantum computing in Germany

Quantum computers have the potential to transform industry, research and society. To harness the benefits of quantum computing, research and development teams around the world are working towards the first practical quantum computers. Germany has the opportunity to secure a leading international position in this race for ‘quantum advantage’. Achieving this requires a strong quantum computing ecosystem that accelerates technology transfer between industry and research, fosters cooperation and the associated synergies and innovations, and creates an attractive environment for skilled professionals. With its innovation centres in Hamburg and Ulm, the DLR Quantum Computing Initiative (DLR QCI) is actively shaping and strengthening this ecosystem.

In around 80 projects, DLR researchers, start-ups and industry are working together to develop quantum computers, essential technologies and relevant applications – in other words, everything needed to bring quantum computing into practical use.

With QCI Enabling Services, the DLR QCI enables companies and public authorities to become part of this development. Leveraging its expertise and real quantum hardware, DLR identifies and develops potential applications for quantum computing.
