Versatile Robotics

Full-body control grants robots a delicate touch

For robots to work safely with humans, they require control software that is not only precise, but also flexible and safe. Current control software still struggles with stability and safety issues – such as vibrations and overshooting, requires extensive tuning and offers only limited precision. For these reasons, many robots are very slow.

DLR has developed a solution to this problem: the first robot control software that enables precise, stable and safe robotic motion. With this software, robots can perform movements with high performance and speed while guaranteeing safety, for the first time. It paves the way for automating various tasks that were traditionally carried out by humans, particularly those of a dangerous or monotonous nature.

The aim of Versatile Robotics is to achieve a breakthrough in sensitive robotics through its patented robot control software. Sensitive robotics grants robots ‘a sense of touch’ – even for complex processes. Industries such as logistics and manufacturing can benefit from this, as well as healthcare and medicine.
