DESCRIPTION:Aims of the workshop \nThe DLR Humanitarian Technology Days will bring together humanitarian experts from UN/NGOs and relief organisations with DLR experts to exchange ideas and understanding on research demands and needs in Humanitarian relief to jointly develop project ideas and for an improved technology support in humanitarian actions. Through the presentations\, ideation workshops\, demos and the market place a match making between “problem-owners” and DLR experts partnerships and project ideas will be initiated.\n \nExpected results  \nIdentification of knowledge and technology gaps\, formulation of new joint project ideas\, dedicated follow-up meetings and cooperation between DLR and Humanitarian actors. It is envisaged to pass the messages from this workshop also to funding agencies and research donors in order to help paving the way towards dedicated research funds in this domain.\n \nIf you are interested to participate in the meeting please send your suggestions to VMS@dlr.de.\n \n

DESCRIPTION:Computer-based models have become indispensable for product development in large companies. Many small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)\, however\, are just beginning to digitalise and move into smart product development. The use and performance of modern engineering tools either seems far too abstract or not practical enough. \nWith this in mind\, the DLR Institute of System Dynamics and Control has founded the ‘Systems and Control Innovation Lab’\, or SCIL for short. Here\, SMEs in particular can gain access to the latest design technologies and software tools for modelling and control of complex mechatronic systems\, across the entire spectrum of technical applications. Thanks to the use of model-based methods\, SMEs will be able to shape their product developments more efficiently and thus remain competitive in the global marketplace. In addition\, the SCIL innovation lab offers its partners individual consultancy sessions in order to select and apply for suitable funding programmes (EU\, federal\, nation-wide)\, so as to initiate joint SCIL projects. \nOn 12 October\, the SCIL opens its doors to interested companies\, where they will have the opportunity to get to know the research laboratory and the team of experts first hand. As part of the laboratory tours and lectures from industry and research\, we will also present the latest design methods and control concepts for mechatronic products. \nTarget group: \nThe event is aimed at actors in the fields\, such as managers and employees from research and development\, production managers\, technical managers\, designers and managing directors. \nRegistration: \nPlease register online by 29 September 2017 at http://smodell.besl-eventservice.de/mtz50l7vuXZ4/index.php.\nThe number of places is limited.

DESCRIPTION:Developing the infrastructure to meet future scientific challenges” \nThe 2nd International Conference on Airborne Research for the Environment (ICARE 2017) will be held at DLR\, the German Aerospace Research Center\, in Oberpfaffenhofen near Munich\, from 10 to 13 July 2017. \nThe conference will bring together both operators and users of research aircraft working in support of a broad range of environmental research interests together with representatives of relevant funding agencies and equipment suppliers. Airborne research has significantly contributed to our understanding of important environmental processes in the atmosphere\, ocean and on the land surface. The ability to continue and develop this role will depend on the airborne research community adapting to the challenges of a world of increasingly restricted financial resources. \nThe conference will review the scientific drivers for future airborne measurements across a broad range of topics in environmental science. There will also be sessions devoted to a range of technical and support issues that are concerned with developing the aircraft operators’ ability to address these science drivers

DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to inform you that the next TerraSAR-X/TanDEM-X Science Team Meeting will take place on October 17-20\, 2016 at the German Aerospace Center in Oberpfaffenhofen/Germany. \nThe TerraSAR-X/TanDEM-X Science Meeting will start with a common session for both missions on Monday morning (Oct 17)\, which will provide general information about the status of both missions. Thematic sessions for both missions will be held from Monday afternoon until Thursday afternoon (Oct 20). \nThe main goal of the meeting is the presentation and discussion of scientific results\, exchange of experience gained so far as well as to provide the latest information about the status of both missions. In addition\, the Microwaves and Radar Institute and German Remote Sensing Data Center (DFD) will inform about the next TanDEM-X data acquisition plan and report about the mission proposal Tandem-L. \nInterested scientists are kindly invited. DESCRIPTION:Am 9. Oktober 2016 ist es wieder soweit\, denn dann öffnen sich die Türen des Deutschen Zentrums für Luft-und Raumfahrt (DLR) in Oberpfaffenhofen für alle Wissenshungrigen. In 13 Instituten und Forschungseinrichtungen präsentieren die Mitarbeiter des DLR ihre Projekte rund um Robotertechnik\, Klimaforschung\, Erdbeobachtung\, Navigationssysteme und natürlich Weltraummissionen. Bei einem Blick in die Labore und Kontrollräume können Besucher Wissenschaft hautnah miterleben. Was treiben die Astro- und Kosmonauten gerade auf der ISS? Was können uns Satellitenbilder über unsere Erde verraten? Wie funktionieren eigentlich die Galileo-Satelliten? Diese und viele anderen Fragen werden an diesem Tag erklärt. \nNeben zahlreichen interessanten Vorträgen und Shows in den Instituten\, erwartet die Gäste ein spannendes und abwechslungsreiches Rahmenprogramm sowie eine Autogrammstunde mit einem echten Astronauten. Für zukünftige Jungforscher wartet auch dieses Jahr wieder ein erlebnisreiches Kinderprogramm. Das DLR Oberpfaffenhofen freut sich schon jetzt auf die zahlreichen Besucher. Bitte beachten Sie\, dass nur eine begrenzte Anzahl an Parkplätzen außerhalb des Geländes zur Verfügung steht. Parken innerhalb des DLR ist an diesem Tag nicht möglich. Deshalb bitten wir Sie\, die öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel zu benutzen. Die Fahrzeiten der S-Bahn Linie S8 entnehmen Sie bitte der Webseite der MVG. Neben den regulären Bussen werden zudem drei Pendelbusse ab dem Bahnhof Neugilching und Weßling eingerichtet.\nFür alle Besucher\, die mit dem Radl anreisen\, wird es Fahrradstellplätze geben. \nEintritt\nDer Eintritt ist kostenlos. Einlass ist von 10 Uhr bis 16 Uhr. Veranstaltungsende ist um 17 Uhr. \nMitnahme von Rucksäcken\nWir bitten Sie auf die Mitnahme von schwerem Gepäck und Rucksäcken zu verzichten. Während der Veranstaltung wird es verdachtsunabhängige Gepäckkontrollen durch unser Sicherheitspersonal geben.Das Raumfahrtkontrollzentrum darf nicht mit Rucksäcken betreten werden. Es wird entsprechend eine Taschenabgabe geben.
