DESCRIPTION:Under the motto “Innovating together: Bridges between research and industry”\, the DLR Center for Lightweight Production Technology (ZLP) in Augsburg will open its doors on 14 May 2025 from 9:00 – 16:30 for the 7th Production Technology Colloquium – an event that makes innovation and visions for the future of aerospace tangible. \nThe ZLP stands for cutting-edge research in lightweight construction\, with the aim of bringing pioneering technologies from the idea to industrial realisation. In particular\, the focus is on automation and quality assurance\, which set standards. The colloquium promises inspiring insights into projects that not only challenge the status quo\, but also shape the future. \nThere will be more than just presentations – you will experience the future up close: during an exclusive tour of the ZLP Augsburg research hall\, you will gain insights into pioneering projects and technologies before the day ends with a networking event and inspiring discussions. \nRegister by 28 April 2025\, as places are limited!

DESCRIPTION:Open special page \n“What if… we set up a department in Augsburg to investigate the production technology of tomorrow?” This is how\, on the afternoon of 12 January 2007\, the idea for a centre dedicated to lightweight production technology was born at DLR. \nTen years ago\, the first DLR researchers began their work in Augsburg\, thanks to extensive funding from the Bavarian State Government – supported by the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs\, Regional Development and Energy – and the City of Augsburg. In early 2009\, it all started with three researchers in the rented premises of Sigmapark in Augsburg. \nIn cooperation with many partners\, DLR created a research facility that is unique in Europe\, with a robot platform only available in Augsburg. Today\, almost 60 employees and students are shaping the future of automated lightweight production at the Center for Lightweight-Production-Technology (ZLP) on the grounds of the Augsburg Innovation Park. \nOn May 15\, 2019\, the Center for Lightweight-Production-Technology will host its 5th Colloquium on Production Technology. This year\, the DLR Center also celebrates its 10th anniversary.

Large robots for large structures: In his introductory talk\, Michael Vistein will explain how aircraft are built ‘lightweight’ using robots and where the challenges lie\, both today and in the future.
