Digital transformation in materials science – Natural meets artificial intelligence

Digital tools are rapidly transforming the field of materials science today. Intelligent algorithms can provide new perspectives on fundamental mechanisms and accelerate the evaluation of experimental data. Therefore, it is important to combine natural and artificial intelligence in a suitable way.

Artificial intelligence has become very popular in recent years due to increased computational resources, but it usually requires large training data sets. The motivation of natural intelligence is on the mathematical modeling of physical relationships.
This year’s Materials Colloquium will focus on the combination of both worlds. This year we will go virtually. In talks and discussions, experts from research and industry will offer new approaches and ideas for the efficient combination of experimental and digital methods.
