SUMMARY:SUMO 2020 - From Traffic Flow to Mobility Modeling
DESCRIPTION:The conference is postponed from May 2020 to October 26th – 28th\, 2020\nand takes place online!\nThe participation is free of charge \nIntroduction\nTraffic simulations are of immense importance for researchers as well as practitioners in the field of transportation. SUMO has been available since 2001 and provides a wide range of traffic planning and simulation applications. SUMO consists of a suite of tools covering road network imports and enrichment\, demand generation and assignment\, and a state-of-the-art microscopic traffic simulator capable of simulating private and public transport modes\, as well as person-based trip chains. Being open source\, SUMO is easily extensible by new behavioral models and can be dynamically controlled via a well-defined programming interface. These and other features make SUMO one of the most often used open source traffic simulators with a large and international user community. \nCall for Papers\nThe conference focuses on presenting new and unique results in the field of mobility simulation and modeling using openly available tools and data. We expect a large variety of research topics and usage approaches. If you are working on a research project fitting the topics below\, you are kindly invited to submit an abstract. Possible areas of interest include (but are not limited to): \n• Mobility and Demand Modelling\n• Traffic Simulation\n• Open Tools and Open Data\n• Modelling Urban Mobility\n• Traffic Applications\n• Traffic Management Solutions\n• Intermodal Transport\n• Autonomous Driving\n• Logistics Simulation\n• Vehicular Communication\n• E-Mobility \nLanguage\n The conference language is English. \nKeynote Speaker: Keynote Jordi Casas (AIMSUN) \nVenue\nThe conference takes place online \nContact:  sumo-conference@dlr.de

SUMMARY:DLR Humanitarian Technology Days 2020 online edition
DESCRIPTION:Dear Colleagues\, \nThe German Aerospace Centre has launched a “Humanitarian Technology Initiative”\, encouraging its researchers and engineers to work more closely with the humanitarian sector and to identify and develop joint technology support projects with humanitarian stakeholders such as field workers\, decision makers or logistics centres. \nAs you may know\, due to the COVID-19 pandemic\, the second DLR Humanitarian Technology Days had to be cancelled in March this year. We are happy to hereby invite you to an online edition of our HumTechDays\, to be held on October 28/29 this year\, where we want to jointly ideate and update each other on the latest trends and developments in the humanitarian technology domain. \nThe meeting will be split into two half-day (9h-12h30 – CET) parts and will be held fully online.\nDuring the meeting we will have: \n• Keynotes from the Executive Board of DLR\, Director of Humanitarian Assistance\, German Federal Foreign Office\nas well as senior stakeholders from the humanitarian sector\n• A panel discussion with high profile experts in the humanitarian technology domain\n• Presentations and breakout groups on the latest DLR humanitarian technology developments and projects\n• Joint ideation on possible joint future work and an outlook on the next steps in the DLR Humanitarian Technology Initiative. \nPlease have a look at our interesting programme of the online edition of the DLR HumTechDays 2020 and we are happy to inform you that registration is now open. For any questions or suggestions\, please contact us at vms@dlr.de. See you online on 28-29 October 2020! \nPlease note that registration does not automatically guarantee your participation in the event. Upon verification of your registration and available capacities\, in the next few weeks you will receive a separate e-mail informing about the final status\n \nOn behalf of the DLR Humanitarian Technology Initiative\, \nStefan Voigt\, DLR Humanitarian Technology Initiative\nKristina Dünner\, DLR InHouse Consulting Space R&D\nJoachim Post\, DLR International Relations\nManuela Braun\, Communication\, Strategy Space R&D\nSusann Groß und Kathrin Poser\, DLR Programme Space R&D
