Hayabusa-2 is a Japanese space mission heading to the high-carbon „Ryugu“ asteroid. Germany – in collaboration with France – contributes to this mission with the MASCOT lander and four important scientific experiments which examine chemistry and physics of this asteroid. The mission goal is to gain knowledge about the dawn of the solar system and the formation and development of the planets. MASCOT is to land on Ryugu in October 2018 and to support measurements taken by Hayabusa-2. In 2020, Hayabusa-2 will return to Earth, carrying samples from Ryugu.
The exhibition „Contact with an asteroid – HAYABUSA2 & MASCOT“ of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) was developed and designed by the DLR institutes and facilities involved in the asteroid lander MASCOT with participation of external mission partners.
The exhibition takes place at Untere Rathaushalle (ground level) of Bremen´s town hall. The admission is free of charge.
