Disruptive technologies are needed to make aircraft and their engines even more energy-efficient and to make air transport more climate-friendly. These include new aircraft configurations, as well as new lightweight construction principles and system architectures. Likewise, new energy carriers such as synthetic paraffin and hydrogen will be used to reduce carbon-dioxide- and non-carbon-dioxide effects on the climate. The so-called Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) play a special role here.
