Fly high AI

DLR_School_Lab Jena uses aerospace models to make AI understandable in a playful way.

Making artificial intelligence tangible: This is the aim of the DLR_School_Lab Jena with the interactive exhibit ‘AI for small high-flyers’. The exhibit uses various miniature aerospace models to illustrate how artificial neural networks work in a fun way. Is an object an aeroplane, a satellite or something completely different? The AI application uses a webcam to assess this in real time.

In the Jena school laboratory, children and young people can discover the typical challenges of dealing with artificial intelligence through clever experiments – and visitors to ILA 2024 will also have the opportunity to learn more about AI.

The exhibit was developed together with the DLR Institute of Data Science and can be easily replicated by schools.
