CoSAA

Cockpit Spoofing Alert App

Spoofing – the use of falsified signals targeting satellite navigation systems – is a growing threat to aviation. It can affect critical systems at various levels, potentially compromising flight safety. This exhibit presents CoSAA, a software application developed specifically for pilots. It runs on a tablet computer used in the cockpit as an Electronic Flight Bag. The display allows visitors to see how the app assesses navigation signals in real time and evaluates their trustworthiness. Combined with a compact additional receiver, CoSAA detects manipulated signals at an early stage and alerts the cockpit crew, leaving them sufficient time to respond safely.

What sets CoSAA apart is its combined analysis of multiple signal characteristics, which enables it to identify even hard-to-detect forms of manipulation. The methods we have developed go beyond the capabilities of conventional receivers and present the results in a clear, accessible format for cockpit crew.
