German Space Operations Center (GSOC)

More than five decades of experience in spaceflight missions

The German Space Operations Center (GSOC) at DLR’s site in Oberpfaffenhofen, near Munich, has an outstanding and long-standing track record. Since 1969, it has been responsible for operating spacecraft in orbit, playing a key role in numerous crewed and uncrewed missions.

Its core responsibilities include the preparation and execution of complex Earth observation missions. GSOC is also responsible for the safety and operation of other space-based systems, and develops innovative technologies to make operations more robust and efficient.

The Human Exploration Control Center (HECC) is currently under construction at DLR’s Oberpfaffenhofen site as part of GSOC. In the future, it is set to become Europe’s central control centre for human and robotic missions to the Moon and Mars.
