Global secure communication fit for space
Tap-proof communication is a matter of national interest. Quantum communication is inherently secure, but over long distances has so far only been achievable using trusted ‘intermediate nodes’. DLR develops Quantum repeaters, based on a quantum memory. They can transmit quantum states directly and without measurement, enabling true point-to-point security over theoretically unlimited distances. Placed in space, quantum repeaters are physically almost inaccessible, adding an extra layer of security.
