Quality for production – inline, please!
Focused on production-integrated real-time acquisition of process and machine data in combination with dedicated quality control sensors, the DLR Center for Lightweight-ProductionTechnology is developing systems to monitor quality ‘on the fly’. This allows processes to be adjusted and controlled almost instantaneously, thus enabling closed loop, scrap free production with 100 percent quality. Propagating the collected 3D data back into the component design process allows easier handling of design adjustments and facilitates materialand production-oriented design.
The research focuses on the following topics:
- Optical metrology.
- Computer Vision.
- Laser light sectioning.
- Fibre angle measurement.
- Air-coupled ultrasound (reflection, transmission, Lamb wave).
- Acquisition of process and environmental data.
- Data storage and evaluation.
- Automated evaluation using adaptive algorithms, machine learning and Artificial Intelligence.
