ESA’s Hera  is the first mission to validate asteroid deflection together with NASA’s DART spacecraft. Its target asteroid Dimorphos poses no threat to the Earth, it was subject to a hypervelocity impact by DART in 2022. The main objectives of Hera are related to the retrieval of scientific information about the physical and dynamical properties after the impact so as to validate numerical impact codes.
